Skills and Experience:

 

Yates is seeking an individual who has detailed experience with running electrical design projects, including establishing budget and schedule, performing project estimates for the electrical discipline, and specifying electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, MV and LV motor control centers, variable frequency drives and motors. The individual should be a degreed engineer and it is preferred that they have a professional engineer license. They should be experienced at running design teams of other engineers and designers, to provide electrical construction packages consisting of single line diagrams, motor elementaries, interconnection diagrams, power plans, cable schedules and lighting & grounding plans. They should be able to prepare detailed scopes of work and interface with clients as well as other engineering disciplines.

 

Requirements:

  • MUST BE LOCAL/WILLING TO RELOCATE TO THE BIRMINGHAM, AL AREA.
  • Minimum 15 plus years’ experience working in a Heavy Industrial Electrical Engineering consulting engineering role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer license preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working in a design leader/senior engineer role
  • A proven track record of successful projects and ability to mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Able to work well in fast-track projects
  • Good communication and presentation skills

Essential Job Duties:

  • Analyze power distribution systems and provide solutions to feed project electrical loads
  • Customer development and building client relationships
  • Perform plus or minus 50%, 25% and 10% electrical estimates for heavy industrial clients
  • Lead design team of other engineers and designers to produce detailed design packages for construction
  • Specify and evaluate bids for electrical equipment
  • Chair electrical discipline meeting with clients, vendors, and other project team members as needed
  • Visit job sites and gather electrical information in the field
  • Work with other engineering disciplines to successfully execute the electrical portion of large, complex projects
